IKT deals with current issues relating to data transmission and communication networks. Both are of immense importance in the modern information society, as more and more people and machines want to share ever-increasing volumes of data. That is why we are researching wireless radio systems with efficient modulation methods, multi-antenna systems, machine-type communication, car-to-car communication, network analysis tools, cognitive radio, and new technologies and concepts for the Internet of the future, such as software-defined networking and network function virtualization. In the field of audio signal processing, the IKT also investigates acoustic measurement technology, multi-channel converter systems, and virtual 3D audio.

The institute has a range of highly specialized measurement laboratories and equipment at its disposal, which we use for our measurements, see Infrastructure
