Vorlesungsinhalt
The course aims to provide a theoretical and practical understanding of the technologies that are going to shape the next-generation Internet. Students will become familiar with emerging trends in terms of packet forwarding (router architectures, software routers on commodity hardware), congestion control (congestion control for large bandwidth-delay products, delay-based congestion control, multi-path TCP), flow processing (flow processing on commodity hardware, Openflow, distributed flow processing), overlay networks (overlay routing, peer-to-peer networks, distributed hash tables, content distribution networks), virtual networks (server virtualization, network interface virtualization, programmable virtual routers), and multimedia delivery.
